I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. The food is imaginative, superbly prepared, and so delicious, that even when I'm full, I often look at the menu again, just to see what I'll be ordering on my next visit!
And the patio? Don't get me started......

C’est connu, IKEA fait la joie d’à peu près tout le monde. On y trouve de tout, pour tous les goûts et à des prix raisonnables. Après avoir rempli le panier des choses que l’on voulait acheter ou des coups de cœur que l’on a trouvés en chemin, on prend le temps de déjeuner à 1$ ou de goûter aux fameuses brioches tout droit sorties du four… Miam !

I recently read about Panino Cappuccino in the Toronto Sun. There was an article talking about this "hidden gem". I would have never expected such a cute Italian restaurant to have been in the small Weston rd. plaza I pass by every day. Well kudos to the author because they were totally right! I decided to give it a try! I took my girlfirend one Friday night & the place was packed! We were however greeted right away and scored a corner booth! We shared the Italian Springs Rolls (UNREAL!) to start. I had the penne alla vodka and my friend had the seabass which was the special for the night. The food was exceptionally good and definately impressed my friend and I. The servers were also great & the atmosphere was very cozy. On our way out we even had the opportunity to meet one of the brothers/owners 'Fabio' who was also very nice. Can't wait to go back for more yummy spring rolls!

Reservations were made 6 weeks ago as most restaurants are fully booked near Valentine's Day. However, North 44 was 1/2 filled.
Our coats were quickly taken, we were quickly escorted to our table which had wide comfortable upholstered chairs. The service was very good for the exception that our server was very soft spoken and I had to ask him to repeat the specials 3 times. I guess the noise level in the restaurant didn't help much. North 44 has some nasty acoustics going on. It was soooo loud inside - people talking over each other, etc. Definitely not a place I would want to go to for a romantic dinner.
On to the food. Appetizers ordered were the Soup of the day, Lobster Bisque with 'blah..blah..blah" (couldn't hear the waiter), Quebec Foie Gras with other stuff that sounded like a lot on the menu but actually looked like a stamp on the plate. $24.95 for a teeny sampling? Well, as small as the serving was, the taste was really good, as was the texture. And I don't like anything with a ducky/goosey flavour...so this dish was surprisingly quite good to me. The lobster bisque had bisque foam on the top that tasted like lobster water (yuck). The bisque was seasoned perfectly for me and had a hint of cinnamon. The slices of seared? lobster (?) inside the soup was a nice surprise. The serving size was generous... probably too generous for such a rich tasting soup.
Entrees ordered were seared BC halibut in banana leaf. It arrived with a side of barely warm basmati rice. Also ordered was the braised beef short rib 'rubbed with spiced cocoa rub & served with soft polenta.
The halibat was unwrapped at the table. It looked impressive enough until you looked closely and noticed the whole top of the halibut was covered in slivers of fresh ginger. The fish tasted like ginger and not much else. As if that wasn't bad enough, the halibut was overdone. Severely overdone. The basmati rice was bland and tasteless...and cold.
The waiter, when informed, replaced the halibut dish with a quick cook entree of grilled Ahi Tuna - which was grilled perfectly and had good flavours, albeit, again, portion size was extremely small for $42.95.
The braised beef rib dinner was what I found most disconcerting. When the plate was brought over, I thought they had brought me another appetizer. The serving was that small! I would put the meat portion at 4 oz (maybe) . It sat in the middle of a pool of creamy polenta that was as soupy as cream of wheat. But...it tasted good. I didn't detect any of the 'spiced cocoa rub' flavour in the meat, but the dish did taste good and probably would have tasted better if there was more of it and maybe a few sprigs of string beans or some kind of veg. 2 'sauteed' strips of red bell pepper does not count as veg.
For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Bomb and Kashmiri Chai Brulee. Dessert was disgustingly sweet but was also well balanced with the tart fruit coulis spread across the plates.
The only alcoholic beverage ordered was a Lipstick Martini or Martini Lipstick. It was okay.
I don't know if my expectations were too high for this restaurant or if it's because I am a true foodie and a great cook that I expect that when I go out to eat in a restaurant the food will be better than what I can cook myself. I found only a part of that to be the case.
If you can't cook good food at home and you do want good food to eat, then I would recommend North 44. But bring money. Lots of it cause their meals are not filling. If it weren't for the delicious black olive artisan bread and endless water refills, I would have gone home starving.

Hands down best place to be ordering or buying from. Their prices are far better than what I've come across and I love how this company carries tons of different brands! Lot's mostly carry china glass that I am not too fond of. Ordered from here many, many, many times and I will again. I've ordered gifts for myself and others and everyone loved it. I suggest this place to all my friends and fellow smokers. Give this place a go!!!!! You won't regret it, I promise. :)

Professional. knowledge, courteous are some of the words to describe my denturist Mark Chandler. I knew it was time for an upgrade, so Mark set out to take mold for upper, I just had 8 regular teeth on the bottom, in very bad shape; having a dread of dentists; Mark introduce me to a wonderful dentist on his floor. She proceeded to work on the lower, I got to like my appointments with her. Mark finished both upper and lower within 6 weeks. THANK YOU MARK.

Found Royal Plumbing online and called them because basement was flooded. Within 1hr the plumbers showed up and quickly went to the basement to look at the problem. They quickly saw my main drain line was clogged and began to snake the drain. They told me I had wipes flushed down toilet and cleaned everything up. Gyros is an awesome facility and their staff are amazing as well. I put my daughter here so that she could learn her required tumbling for cheerleading and have had nothing but success. There are a lot if kids in the gym but they all have space to move around and the class sizes are great. I would absolutley reccomend Gyros to anyone looking for tumbling.
